The Last Year

The realisation that I've only blogged ONCE (so far) this year really got me kicking my butt into gear. Maybe I could fit in a few hundred posts before Christmas?! Some have asked me what's been happening and why I haven't posted in so long, and I really wish I could blame the baby and say I have been too busy being super Mum, but the truth is, something weird and crazy happened to me during the process of becoming a Mum... (hormonal changes?!) and I just haven't been that excited about wearing clothes. Alright, that does sound a little weird, but you know what I mean. Clothes interesting enough to blog about. If this was a blog about trackies then I would probably be winning a medal.

It has nothing to do with effort, or being bothered. It's just that I haven't been able to fit into 3/4 of my wardrobe after giving birth. Well...fast forward 15 months and we've done it again! Baby no.2 is officially on its way (I am officially 21 weeks tomorrow) and I might as well start throwing all my clothes into bags and shipping them off to Vinnies. But who am I kidding? When it comes to clothes, I'm an absolute hoarder ("That'll come back into fashion..." is something I'm always telling myself- and the husband).

But here they are. Some outfits from a few centuries ago...

THE LAST YEAR PART ONE

Outfit Edit: Dress by Bec & Bridge

This dress just rocked my world. I purchased it towards the end of my pregnancy (on sale- yay!) and almost did a cart wheel when I could get into it (well kind of- the zipper wouldn't go all the way up) but I had plenty of fun in it. So much so my heels broke that night.

Outfit Edit: Top by Cameo The Label, Skirt by Kookai & Shoes by Tony Bianco

I'm not usually a big fan of bustiers, but I fell in love with this one by Cameo (yes, definitely one of my favourite brands). One thing I did a lot during my last pregnancy (which I haven't done at all in this one) was buy a lot of clothes in anticipation...This was an item of clothing I seriously tried on a week after giving birth! News alert: Not going to happen if I was breastfeeding!

Outfit Edit: Jumpsuit by Shilla

We went on a short family holiday to Callala Bay earlier this year and I just knew I had to kick it off with this white jumpsuit. Super tricky to walk in (hand bub to husband) but the holiday feels were strong. It is tricky wearing white, but once you do it, you won't turn back. Here is my very bad attempt at trying to look 'natural'. I tried.

There's white, and then there's black. So safe, and definitely my saving grace. The first time I wore this jumpsuit I was on Fifth Avenue in New York City (sorry, just had to name drop). I wanted to always remember that special moment with a piece of clothing that I knew would capture that day. Crazy as it sounds, but while I was planning my outfits for my trip to the U.S. three years ago, I picked this up and knew it was 'New York' worthy. Ah, the memories. Walking down Fifth on that sunny day, wearing this jumpsuit that made me feel a million bucks and not being able to afford anything but macaroons at Laduree. And they tasted damn good as well.

Fast forward three years and here we are, on the main street of Berry, NSW. Not quite Fifth Avenue, but still a special place.

Outfit Edit: Top & Shorts by Aje.
Ah, mum life. If it's not a coffee, it's a cocktail.

Don't judge.

Life's tough with a little one.

Outfit Edit: Jumpsuit by Bec & Bridg, shoes by Tony Bianco & Baby by Me
Selfies look a lot like this these days.

Outfit Edit: Dress by Maurie and Eve & Shoes by Zara.
So it's date night. I think to myself...Let's wear:

Something nice for the hubby
NOT kid-friendly
HEELS

...and this is how the night starts. Hubby, who rarely ever comments about what I wear (this is a good thing he says. I'll hear something if it was bad). Well, this would be the night. And right before take off as well (this is a pretty significant moment for any mama who endeavors to leave their baby for the rare 'D night'- yes, RARE. Sure we promised each other pre-baby we'd do it at least five million times in a year...yeah...) So, back to my story. Heels on, groove on, I'm ready to roll and the hubby looks at me and says:

"What are you wearing? It looks weird"

WEIRD?! Now, don't get me wrong. I am all for weird, crazy, outfits. But this dress is the safest, non-weird thing I've ever worn. I've literally walked out of the house many times looking like I'm straight out of a Lady Gaga music video and he never so much as blinks, let alone comments.

I wore the dress anyway:)

So, that was complication number 1.

Number 2? Well, the heels I couldn't wait to jump in, literally, felt the weight of my excitement and broke mid-date. YEP. Broke. The faithful pair of heels I took from the streets of Singapore, Hong Kong to Bronte did not want to come on this date with me. Thank God we were parked outside the front of the restaurant and there were no romantic walks along the beach on the agenda.

Who does that anyway?!

P.S. I've kept the heels. Too many memories to just throw them away (told you I'm a hoarder).

PART TWO COMING SHORTLY...
